Dr Nyiko Chauke

Dr Nyiko Chauke is a specialist Orthopaedic surgeon, he completed his undergraduate training at Sefako Makgatho University (previously University of Limpopo). 

After completing his internship and community service training he joined Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg academic hospital and University of Witwatersrand for orthopaedic specialist training program.He graduated from the College of Medicine of South Africa, Fellowship in Orthopaedic surgery in 2015 and in 2017 graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in Master of Orthopaedic surgery. In 2018, he completed Shoulder surgery fellowship with Dr Laurent Lafosse in France. 

He is a consultant at Chris Hani Baragwanath academic hospital in Orthopaedic surgery and Sports medicine and associate lecture in Orthopaedic surgery at the University of Witwatersrand and he is responsible for research, teaching and training of the undergraduate, postgraduate and allied health students in shoulder, knee and elbow and sports related injuries.

He has a special interest in the management and treatment of knee injuries such as menisci, knee dislocation or multiple ligament injuries, patella dislocation, cartilage injuries, deformities of the knee, knee osteoarthritis, shoulder dislocations, shoulder osteoarthritis, rotator cuff tears, elbow dislocation and osteoarthritis amongst the injuries and /or conditions.He provides arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder and elbow, deformity correction of the knee (knee osteotomy), partial knee replacement (includes robotic assisted surgery), total knee replacement, menisci repair and debridement, articular cartilage injury repair and replacement, shoulder replacement, and elbow replacement.
